Somalia’s special forces captured the senior Al-Shabab terror network leader on Wednesday. Mohamed Abdi Mukhtar nickname Sakhrawi, was arrested by Danab and Jubaland regional security forces during a large-scale operation targeting militants west of Kismayo.
The military says that four of Sakhrawi’s bodyguards were killed during his arrest.
The Somali special forces say that it has been cracking down on Al-Shabab militants in the region. Last month, members from the special forces elite commando unit killed 14 Al-Shabab fighters near Kismayo and recovered several weapons, including an explosive machine gun well equipped weapon has senior Al-Shabab terror network leader.
