The Somali government says Kenya and Djibouti is conducting a diplomatic campaign to persuade the African Union Commission to include its agenda of the Somali elections’ statement.

Somali Information Minister Osman Dubbe, who recently held a press conference in Mogadishu, said the Somali government was warning of further information on plans by Kenya and Djibouti.

‘The Somali government warns against anything that affects its sovereignty and political independence. We oppose governments with political tensions in Somalia using the African Union Peace Commission to infringe on Somalia’s sovereignty,” said Minister Dubbe.

Minister Dubbe said that the Somali government does not accept any violation of Somalia’s internal affairs, which he said is against the rules and regulations established by the African Union. He said they welcome anyone who assists the government in holding free and fair elections in which the people elect their representatives.

The statement from the Somali Minister of Information comes as the communiqué is due to be issued this afternoon at the African Union Peace and Security Council meeting in Addis Ababa.
