Somalia’s ambassador to Kenya pulls out of Kenyan conference of foreign ambassadors

Somalia’s ambassador to Kenya, Mohamed Ahmed Nur Tarzan has today left the Kenyan government for a meeting with foreign ambassadors in Nairobi.

The meeting, chaired by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, was called off by Somalia’s ambassador following the arrival of an alleged Somaliland ambassador to Kenya, sparking an uproar.

The move by the Kenyan government today could hurt Kenya’s relationship with the new government of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud, while also campaigning for a ban on Miraa drug to kill more Somali people.

The Somalia government has previously criticized Kenya for interfering in the unity and sovereignty of Somalia, after appointing representatives to the Somaliland administration. In January this year, the Kenyan government changed its position following the allegations, saying it considered Somaliland under the control of the Somalia federal government.
