Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza and the Kenyan Minister of Defense discussed border issues




The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre received the Minister of Defense of Kenya, Aden Barre Duale, and discussed security cooperation and how to reopen the border between the two countries of Somalia and Kenya.

The Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense have raised the importance of strengthening cooperation in security, especially the fight against Al-Shabab.

They also discussed how to re-open the border between the two neighboring countries, to facilitate traffic and trade between Somalia and Kenya.

Kenya is part of the African Union ATMIS forces in Jubaland, and the meeting was attended by the governor of the Jubaland Regional Government, Ahmed Madobe.

According to sources close to Aden Barre Duale Kenyan officials told Somali Times, Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, Ahmed Madobe and Aden Barre Duale discussed how to work together on border maritime issues which has been decided by the (International Court of Justice) ICJ.
