The first elected representative in the Puntland region, with Lower House members, federal government, parliament, Ahmed Ibrahim Artan Bakiin.

Ahmed Ibrahim Artan is originally from the autonomous Puntland region in northeastern Somalia. He was born in the coastal town of Qandala, situated in the northeastern Bari region of Somalia. Ahmed was from upper-class life, his father was one of the Somali millionaires well known respectfully as, ‘His Father Ibrahim Artan Ismail,’ nicknamed “Haji Bakiin” and served as minister of interior and security of Puntland.



For his secondary education, Ahmed attended a local school in Bosaso, Somalia. Between 2000 and 2004, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Management accounting from the privately owned University Of Bosaso, Somalia. He then travels to Kenya, Nairobi in 2009 to study the Kenyatta University’s Master’s degree accounting management.

Ahmed Ibrahim Artan Bakiin’s agendas is working for the development of Puntland and the Somali society as well as for equality, justice, security, education and health. He held the position as the newly elected member of the Somali Lower House Parliament and we wish him best luck as the newly elected MP.
