The latest conference opens for presidential candidates in Mogadishu

A conference of opposition candidates for the 2020-2021 presidential election has recently opened in the Somali capital Mogadishu.

The three-day conference attended by former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire, former presidents Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, Wadajir party leader Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, and Ileys party leader Abdulkadir Osoble. Ali, Dan-Qaran party leader Dahir Mohamud Guelleh, MP Mustafa Sheikh Ali Duhulow, former presidents of the South West and Galmudug administrations Abdikarim Hussein Guled and Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden.



At the opening of the conference, journalists were first allowed to take pictures and videos, and then left outside, with the conference behind closed doors. ”Much of the focus will also be on elections and the transition in the country.

Opposition candidates also co-speaker in the debate and election committees the solution, as concerns brought. It is also expected that the conference will result in a joint decision by opposition leaders on the upcoming elections.

Somalia is preparing for parliamentary and presidential elections, and there is a rift between the government and the opposition.
