The newly appointed defence minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mr Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman,has today on Saturday takes office in a highly organized ceremony held at the ministry of defence.
The official event was attended by many government officials, members from the defense committee of the Federal Parliament, Cabinet ministers, top Army officials, commanders of the Armed forces and special guests such as the Turkish ambassador to Somalia.
The incoming minister told that the Ministry of Defence is committed to the national agenda of empowering and offering quality training the Somali National Armed Forces, But he emphasized that the Ministry requires the support of the people.
Somalia Prime minster Hassan Ali Khaire had recently nominated Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman as the incoming minster of defense,to replace for minster Abdirashid Abdullahi Mohamed who gave his resignation from that portfolio.The ministry of defense is facing large military operation plans against Alshabaab militants in the country.
