Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud is expected to arrive in Garowe, where he will hold talks with the governor of that administration warlord Said Deni and other officials.

Villa Somalia did not give full details about the president’s travel plan, but reliable sources close to the president told Somali Times some of the goals of the trip.

According to information obtained by Somali Times the president is the rapprochement between the federal government and the Puntland administration, while it is believed that Said Deni is not satisfied with what happened after Hassan Sheikh was re-elected.

Said Deni was hoping to get the position of prime minister or be given the Puntland administration. Neither of those happened, and the president gave the post of prime minister to Hamza Abdi Barre from the Ogaden community.

Members close to Deni said that he agreed with Hassan Sheikh for the position of prime minister during the presidential election, although officials close to Hassan Sheikh were quoted as saying that the president did not make such a promise.

Said Deni, after the appointment of the prime minister, it was felt that he wants to be an opposition, as he is very close to the Ethiopian government, which is believed to be opposed to the administration of President Hassan Sheikh.

It is not clear when President Hassan Sheikh will convince Said Deni, although they have always been very close. Another issue that was not part of the trip, but we have received information that it is now on the agenda, is the extension of time by the Kenyan agent governor of Jubaland, Ahmed Madobe, which President Hassan is said to be upset about.

Ahmed Madobe on the 22nd of this month took an avoidable step based on personal interest, after his parliament agreed to add one year to his term of office which ends in August 2023.

Ahmed Madobe’s action has opened up a political crisis for President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud. It is believed that Hassan Sheikh will pressurize Said Deni to tell Ahmed Madobe to withdraw the extension period, making it one that the parliament reached but he refused.
