Somali officials told Somali Times the attacker was in a suicide jacket and blew up at the cafe located near a police station in the Shangani district at about 7pm local time.
”A suicide bomber detonated himself at a cafe shop frequented by the youth,” a police spokesman told Somali Times. ”Six people, four of them in youth, a child, and the suicide bomber died in the blast. Four others were wounded.”
The cafe is popular and frequented by residents for evening chilling. Four other people were injured according to the police spokesman. The attack happened barely eight hours after the Somali military said it killed 76 Al-Shabaab militants in the Lower Shabelle region following a morning foiling a Al-Shabaab terrorist attack.
