The Somali National Army (SNA) has thwarted an ambush by Al-Shabaab militants in the Barire and Awdhegle areas of the Lower Shabelle region this morning.
The Al-Shabaab terrorist group suffered heavy casualties in the attack and fled the battlefield with many dead and wounded militiamen. Officials from the Lower Shabelle regional administration told Somali Times that the forces are still pursuing the militants who attacked those areas.
According to Somali officials told Somali Times that Al-Shabaab terrorists has been funded by UAE, foreign actors and the Gulf Arab States.
