In the spirit of African solutions to African problems, it is upon us all to collectively decide our destiny and abandon the failed notion that we can somehow import our security needs from the west. We only have ourselves, no salvation is coming to our lands.
As Somalia greatly helped many African countries in their respective decolonization foundational era, it now needs all the help it can get from its African brethren. To this end, we should help equip Somalia with necessary infrastructure & networks to regain its lost status in the continent.
To kick this off, we (Africans) must collectively contribute financially to help the country set up a national telecommunications network, the existing telecommunications are the terrorists biggest aid in expanding their terrorist networks. To the African benefactors of Somalia’s peril, the same can happen to you tomorrow, try to be your brothers helpers not a vulture!
With all the foreign countries continually training the Somali security forces, in the near future we might have an even more militarized society— this should be avoided. A single national army is the ideal solution, sticking with a single trainer— preferably Turkey in this case would ease tensions. Turkey an already friendly & respectable ally should also win over the hearts of the population & inspire confidence in the African helpers in this regard.
All the Non-ATMIS troops from neighboring states should leave Somali territories because of their glaring lack of mandate. Upholding national, regional & international law as a solid legal framework is paramount!
The scourge of terrorism is the main obstacle to peace, spoiler entities like the UAE should not be allowed into the region given their destructive records in Libya, Sudan & Yemen. Neither should the west be fore-bearers in bringing “stability” we are the ailing people, we know where it hurts the most. The days of fermenting chaos & trying to come with your poisonous concoction as cure is gone!
