Does Kenya’s absence in the maritime case mean a victory for Somalia?

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) began hearing the maritime dispute between Somalia and Kenya yesterday, with only the Somali side present.

The hearing began as Kenya was absent from the court and informed them that they were withdrawing from the case and would not attend the hearing. So, what can be expected from this case? If Somalia is ready and Kenya does not attend the hearing, does that mean Somalia will rule?

According to in international law, to Kenya was astonishing and meaningless, but the court had enough evidence and documents that Kenya had already submitted.



“The case will be taken, which is in Article 53 of the law court ICJ, if the two sides of the potential for a case of return, the court may request that the case be judged, that does not mean a shoulder out should be judged in the revision, but with the documents already Kenya has submitted to the court must have enough documents against Kenya.”

According to the timetable for the hearing, Somalia will first submit its arguments, and then the court reviewed the documents already Kenya. Submitted to the International Court of Justice.
