The federal government has again sent more troops to Gedo region in southern Somalia, which in the last few hours landed at the Dulow airport in the region.

The troops from the specially trained Gorgor commandos were welcomed at Dulow airport by the officials from the Somali National Army and security forces operating in the Gedo region. Reports say that the troops are heading towards the Somali-Kenyan border, especially in Beledhawo and Elwak districts.

Reports added that the security forces will join the government were already in towns. Recently, government forces were deployed along the Somali-Kenyan border, particularly in Beledhawo district. However, this coincides with a brief exchange of fire between Somali and Kenyan forces on the border last month, prompting warnings and threats from Kenya.
