Former Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has strongly condemned the arrest in Mogadishu of the chairman of the People’s political organization Abdirahman Suleiman Jama by the Federal Government’s security agencies.

Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo described the arrest of the chairman of the People’s political organization, Abdirahman Suleiman Jama, as a reflection of the political direction taken by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, especially the type of election he is aiming for.

“As we demonstrate the extent of this violation of the political stability and democratic process in the country, we call on the President to immediately restore the freedom of the Chairman of the People’s political organization, who was illegally targeted,” said former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.

Farmajo also called on the leaders of the Somalia federal government to avoid anything that could cause political uncertainty, and demanded the immediate return of Abdirahman Suleiman Jama’s freedom.

“We are strengthening the Federal security institutions in fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities, by refraining from such actions that undermine the trust of the Somali people and their military reputation,” said Farmajo.

Finally, the arrest of the chairman of the Somali People’s Political Union, Abdirahman Suleiman Jama, by the Federal Government of Somalia was widely condemned by some opposition parties and politicians, who unanimously demanded the immediate release of chairman Abdirahman Suleiman.
