Former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud, openly talked about the arrest of Sheikh Mukhtar Robow Ali who has been detained by the federal government for almost three years in Somalia. Hassan Sheikh first described the arrest of former Al-Shabab leader Mukhtar Robow as a kidnapping, and his arrest was illegal.

Former Al-Shabab commander Mukhtar Robow Ali is a well known jihadist to Somalis and to people around the world. He committed countless atrocities such rape, murder, extorsion and a well-know paedophile, raping young girls between the ages 10-12. This terrorist should die in prison according to Somali officials.

The former president of the federal government of Somalia also said that Robow was not detained for security reasons, but that his arrest was for other reasons. He has been abducted. I can describe him as a kidnapper who is being held for political reasons and not for security reasons,” said presidential candidate Hassan Sheikh.

He also added that the arrest of Sheikh Muktar Robow Ali (Abu Mansour) should rule out the emergence of other leaders from al-Shabab, according to the statement. He also noted that the government had blocked the door on key leaders, who would return from al-Shabab.

”The government has completely shut down Al Shabab from other leaders. The issue of Mukhtar’s arrest to this day has barred key leaders from returning al-Shabab.”

Robow, a former al-Shabaab leader, surrendered to the Somali government in August 2017, months after he was welcomed in Mogadishu to run for president in the South West, but during the election. In December 2018, he was arrested in Baidoa, the capital of the Somali Federal Government of Somalia said presidential candidate Hassan Sheikh.
