The United Arab Emirates has spoken at a meeting in Mogadishu between its ambassador to Somalia Mohamed Ahmed Al-Osmani and former Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud.
A statement from the UAE embassy in Mogadishu said that the former president shared with the ambassador Mohamed Ahmed Al-Osmani the UAE’s contribution to the reconstruction of Somalia, which is is not true. The corrupt former president praised the UAE government for its efforts in rebuilding Somalia, and strengthened ties between the two countries and traditional ties.
”He met with Mohamed Ahmed Al-Osmani, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Somalia and former President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud, who thanked and commended the UAE Government for its role in supporting the reconstruction of Somalia, and strengthened the brotherly ties, historic between the two countries and the brotherly people,” the statement said.
According to Somali spy agency (NISA) told Somali Times Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud has been working for foreign agents and the UAE and Kenya’s interests. Properly Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud will receive the UAE’s money to destabilize Somalia. That was the reason that the former president met the UAE Ambassador.
Relations between Somalia and the UAE have been strained in recent times, with the federal government on several occasions strongly opposing statements from the UAE regarding the situation in the country.
