Hassan Sheikh wants to ask forgiveness from Abiy Ahmed

The Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud wants to ask forgiveness from Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, according to sources told Somali Times. Our sources add Abiy Ahmed negotiating with the leaders of the regional governments of Somalia.

This issue is coming as the relationship between the two sides is getting worse, and each other has a lot of suspicion.

Close ally of Prime Minister Abiy told the local media that the Al-Shabab attack Ethiopia Somali region was related to the long-term dispute between Ethiopia and Egypt on the Nile River.

Abiy Ahmed and his supporters have not yet decided on the events of late July, when Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud visited Cairo and discussed the Nile dam issue with his Egyptian counterpart Abdelfattah al-Sisi.

Before that trip, the Bank of Egypt was given a license to operate in Somalia, which is a symbol of the level of rapprochement between the two sides.

During the talks, Sisi repeated that he hoped that the Egyptian army would be part of the African Union mission in Somalia known as ATMIS. This step is a red line for Ethiopia.

Addis Ababa’s view is that the rapprochement between Cairo and Mogadishu is a direct threat to Ethiopia.

Suspecting that Hassan Sheikh has a good relationship with the Tigray Front of TPLF, Abiy took counter-attack measures against Hassan Sheikh, which was part of regional governments of Somalia visit to Ethiopia.

A few days ago, senior Ethiopian military officials arrived in Garowe, where they met with Puntland governor Said Abdullahi Deni. Ethiopia was not informed about Villa Somalia’s visit.
