Kenya Airways has reinstated non-stop flights to Mogadishu, which it described as a historic achievement in regional connectivity and development.
Kenya Airlines will fly from Terminal 2 of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Kenya Airways first started its flights from Mogadishu in December 2018 but had to suspend the flight due to the Corona virus.
In August 2023, a bilateral airspace agreement between Kenya and Somalia was signed, paving the way for direct flights.
The CEO of Kenya Airways, Allan Kilavuka said that the resumption of flights to Mogadishu is in line with the company’s strategic commitment to expand across Africa and contribute to economic development in the long term.
In January 2023, Somalia’s airspace regained A level in terms of air, after more than 30 years, a move recognized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
