The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, today, 15 August 2020, delivered an unscheduled address to the House of the People of the Federal Parliament, which is also on the verge of extinction, at the opening of the Dhusamareb 3rd Conference between Federal Member States and Leadership. Federal Government.

The speech came as President Farmajo was set to nominate a new prime minister to form a government for the rest of his term, following the ouster of his former prime minister Hassan Ali Khaire hours after he returned from the Dhusamareb-2 conference.

The content of the speech by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia was not new, but it was similar in many respects to the speech made in July by the Deputy Prime Minister and now Acting Prime Minister Mahdi Guled who urged the House of Representatives to remain in office.

There will be an election end of Farmajo error. President Farmajo began his speech by saying that he had achieved a lot in terms of the many laws passed by the government and the parliament, but he did not say why the election laws were postponed until the transition period, when the time of the president and parliament is over.

The main point of the speech was that the President is still standing by to hold elections in the country with one person and one vote, which means extending the term of Parliament and the President whose terms expire in December 2020 and February 2021. Formation reiterated that the House of the People represents the people, but the House of Representatives is not elected by the clans and their term is limited or is over.

The President’s speech never mentioned the main issue of the constitutional crisis, which was that he and the Assembly were speaking at the end of their term, and an extension had already been rejected.
