President Mohamed Farmajo is expected to travel to Dhusamareb today ahead of a meeting with regional presidents who have been in the town for a week now. Advisers of President Farmajo have told Somali Times an advance security team of the President has reached the central Somalia town. Dhusamareb is the capital of Galmudug state.

The President’s visit to Dhusamareb follows a call last week by Federal Member State Presidents for a meeting with the Federal Government leadership to iron out electoral issues. Prime Minister Hassan Khaire is already in the town. The two sides are expected to deliberate on the fate of the parliamentary and presidential elections, which the electoral commission NIEC said will not happen this year.

The federal member state leaders have called for a compromise deal to ensure the exercise happens this year within constitutional timelines.
