The minister of internal affairs of the Puntland regional government, Abdi Farah Said, said that the Egyptian government has its own interests in interfering in the affairs of Somalia, and he said that it sees a great opportunity to defend its interests in the Nile River.

“Egypt came between us, of course it has its own interests, it is fighting for its Nile River with Ethiopia, the corrupt president of the Somalia has entered into many security and defence agreements with Egyptian government conflict with Ethiopia,” said Minister.

Minister Abdi Farah said that Egypt does not have a good history in building the government of Somalia. He said that at the time they were searching for the Somalia government, Egypt was one of the countries that was playing a key role in the peace talks in Somalia. He said Egypt used to side with the warlords.

He said that Egypt’s special plan is important in its intention to help Somalia. He said that her arrival in Somalia could bring great danger.

However, Egypt is one of the countries that have promised to send troops to Somalia, to be part of the new peacekeeping mission in Somalia.

Also, President Hassan Sheikh signed a defence cooperation agreement with Egypt, while Ethiopia expressed great concern about this. Ethiopia described the arrival of Egypt in Somalia as a major threat to the stability of the Horn of Africa.
