The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and a delegation led by him have arrived in Djibouti, where he will attend an emergency meeting of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) member states to discuss the situation in the region.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mohamed Abdirizak, who is part of the President’s delegation, noted that the 38th Extraordinary Summit will be attended by Presidents and IGAD member states.

The will discuss the overall situation of the IGAD countries, with a particular focus on the conflict in Somalia and Kenya, the situation in the country and the impact of Tigray. Somalia last week sent a letter of protest against Kenya to Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamduk, who is currently chairing IGAD, prompting an emergency meeting on the issues.
