Somali Prime Minister opens the OIC meeting in Mogadishu





Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Khaire has opened the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation contact group on Somalia in Mogadishu on Saturday under tight security.

Delegations from Muslim countries are in attendance at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ministerial contact group meeting, which is first of its kind to take place in Somalia since the inception of the members .



Representatives from the 15 members have been arriving in Mogadishu since Friday

A high-level Qatari delegation led by the State foreign minister of the Gulf nation, Sultan Bin Sa’ad Al-Muraikhi has reached Mogadishu this morning. Somali government officials led by the country’s foreign minister Ahmed Issa Awad have welcomed the delegation at Adan Adde International Airport.

On Friday, a delegation led by Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr Hesham Youssef reached Mogadishu to attend the meeting, which is a ministerial meeting of the OIC contact group on Somalia on 27 October 2018, in Mogadishu.
