“The sanction was a sanction for every country who wanted to give Somalia weapons. They could not give it to us and they were afraid that there would be a problem with the Security Council. Now the UN is making it easier for many friendly countries to provide and train the people who would use their weapons,” Ambassador Abukar Osman Bale added.

The Federal Government of Somalia has promised that the weapons purchased will not fall into the hands of the enemy. The various sections of the community have welcomed the move to lift the arms embargo from Somalia, praising the Government led by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud.
