Somalia and China discuss strengthening ties with the fishery

The Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs discuss with the Chinese Ambassador ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Bilal Mohamed Osman, received the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Qin Jian, and discussed strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation.



The meeting, which was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ambassador Mohamed Ali-Nur Haji, focused on the progress made, cooperation between Somalia and China in all fields, as well as the latest developments in the region and the world. Others are touching on the common interests of the two states.

Somalia also sold to China a fishing licence in 2019 to fish in the Somalia sea for a 3 billion dollar contract for Chinese companies’ right to fish.
