Somalia court sentenced a fake Al-Shabab doctor to death

Somalia’s armed forces court today sentenced Mohamed Abdi Jirow, known as Dr. Fanah of Al-Shabab. This man, who was in charge of Al-Shabab security, was a fake doctor, and he used to work as a neurologist. He also had fake military rank and identity cards from international organizations.

In a recorded video, he says that he used these different faces to hide his affiliation with Al-Shabab and his actions. He admitted in court that he was involved in attacks that killed many people.

He was particularly involved in an explosive attack on the delegates of the northern regions of Mogadishu.

He said in an interview that he was the man who directed the suicide bomber who blew himself up in the embassy last year.

He was arrested in the city of Baladweyne last year after the presidential election, after he pretended to be a military colonel.
