Somalia minister of finance was forced to withdraw his decision to fire two directors

Somalia minister of finance Dr. Elmi Mohamoud Nur has withdrawn from a letter he issued yesterday, in which he suspended the Accountant General and the Director General of Revenue of the Ministry of Finance.

Minister Ilmi issued two documents to the two directors, giving them a warning and instructing them to comply with the minister’s orders.

The Minister of Finance of Somalia has also expressed in these letters that the suspension of his previous decision of dismissal does not invalidate the administrative charges against these officials.

“The director general of revenue of the ministry considers the suspension as a warning, the heads of the ministry will closely monitor his performance and the implementation of the minister’s directives,” said the statement.

The minister also mentioned in this note that the accountant general is excused because he is new to the work of the ministry, and this is the first time that he has made the mistakes he was accused of.

According to information obtained by Somali Times, last night the President and the Prime Minister called the minister and ordered him to return the two directors who are important to the work of the ministry, according to sources told Somali Times the two director are related to shady Somali president Hassan Sheikh.

The dismissal of the two officials was based on refusal of orders, lack of cooperation and obstruction in the process of managing government expenditure, according to the dismissal letter issued by the minister.

“The Accountant General has deliberately delayed without reason and obstructed the payment of salaries to employees and government officials. He also deliberately turned off the SFMIS system that was working in the Eastern Tax Department and closed it,” said the previous letter of accusation, and the Accountant General was suspended.

The other official’s accusation was said, “The Director General of Revenue openly defied the order of the minister and stood in the way of the temporary appointment of the Director of Land Taxes, which affected the economic power of the government.”
