Somalia, President, holds talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping





Beijing, August 31st, 2018: The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. These talks are an introduction to the China-Africa Cooperation Forum.
President Mohamed congratulated President Xi Jinping on the reforms he made in his country’s policies to bring China’s development to a wider range.

For his part, President Xi Jinping commended President Mohamed and his government for the development of political, economic and social development. The two presidents also discussed the issues of bilateral, trade and investment, new highlights of the economic cooperation, and the efforts to strengthen relations between China and Somalia.



The two leaders also discussed the engagement of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC) and the importance of the “Belt and Road Initiative” initiative, which facilitates the linkage between the countries of the world, take their economic development.

President Farmajo acknowledged the Chinese support and urged them to strengthen their support for the development and accelerate trade and investment relations between China and Somalia.
The two presidents agreed to expand the bilateral relations between  China and Somalia to create greater cooperation for development and economy.

The two countries signed a bilateral understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative and Economic Cooperation between the two countries signed by Foreign Minister and International Cooperation Mr Ahmed Issa Awad and Minister of Trade and Industry Hon. Mohamed Abdi Hayir Manager. The Chinese government has pledged funds to support security, relief and economic development in Somalia.
