Somalia, officials say it has seized foreign boats, which were fishing illegally off the coast of Bari region. The capture of the boat came after the Puntland Maritime Police Force conducted an operation off the coast of the Hafun district in the Bari region, according to a statement from the Somali officials.

Puntland did not say how many boats it seized or what countries it owned. However, most fishing boats off the coast of Puntland are owned by Yemen and Iran. Earlier this month, Puntland naval forces also seized a boat fishing illegally off the coast of Puntland. The boat was carrying a expired fishing license.

Illegal fishing off the coast of Somalia Puntland has affected local fishermen, who have been victims of foreign boats and vessels exploiting marine resources. They have state-of-the-art equipment, which enables them to easily exploit marine resources, as well as damage local fishing equipment, by cutting off their nets.
