The International Court of Justice has final arguments of the maritime boundary case between Somalia-Kenya. Somalia’s lawyers said Kenya wanted to rewrite geography, history and sea law by deception.

The court said in a statement that it would decide on the case after today’s hearing, although it did not say when.

Somalia filed a verdict in court on March 15th and 16th. There were no hearings on March 17th after Kenya refused to participate in the court hearing. Therefore, the court said, Somalia will submit its final argument today, at 3:00 pm in The Hague, which coincides with 5:00 pm Mogadishu time.

The International Court of Justice yesterday rejected a request from Kenya to return to the case, which Kenya withdraw from the International Court of Justice on 11 March 2021.

The Court’s decision to reject Kenya’s request is a great opportunity for Somalia, and the lawyers representing it, because Kenya does not have the opportunity to defend itself.
