Somalis living in Turkey face serious threats

The situation of the Somali people in Turkey is deteriorating following the attack by Bashi Hosh Jabril, a Somali Canadian national, by Turkish bandits earlier this month, who died of his injuries.

Somali nationals living in Turkey have been stigmatized by the Somali community in some neighborhoods, especially Kizilay, which has been reported by some Turkish media outlets, creating hatred toward Somalis living in Turkey.

Sheikh Abu Dalha, one of the Somali clerics, called on the Somali community in Turkey to refrain from meaningless movements and to be vigilant.

”We need to be very careful. We avoid overcrowding. Keep an eye out it is for your own good. Now let us stay in our homes for nothing, and study in our homes,” said Sheikh Abu Dalha.

He added that Kizilay, a predominantly Somali neighborhood, has a strong vision for the elimination of our citizens.

“We need to be extra careful about the taxis we are riding in,” said Sheikh Abu Dalha, who spoke on condition of anonymity to Somali outlet media because he was caught in a taxi attempting to deviate from his route, which could be dangerous for anyone who do not know the country.

Finally, he demanded that the Somali embassy in Turkey, which has a duty to those people, do its job, saying that a strong government would alleviate the plight of Somalis in Turkey.

The move comes as the Turkish government has already issued an order for Somali businessmen to move out of the Kizilay neighborhood in the city center, which has become a hub for Somali businesses.

The biggest problem facing Somali businessmen in Turkey is a number of issues, the worst of which are legal, and a number of businesses have been shut down, while some of their employees have been arrested and others have been deported.
