Members of both houses of parliament have ratified the election agreement reached in Mogadishu between the central government, regional administrations and the Benadir region. The session was attended by 255 lawmakers, including 40 senators from the upper house and was approved by a majority vote.

Prof. Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari, a former speaker of parliament, missed a missing agreement with the Dispute Resolution Committee in the event of a dispute over seats. He said it was important to find out who had the final say in the dispute over seats.

The vote went as expected with 251 MPs approving the election agreement, 2 MPs rejecting it and 1 MP abstaining. The speaker of the parliament, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh, announced that the recent agreement reached in Mogadishu is valid and they will send it back to the president with an attachment.
