The Speaker of the Upper house calls for urgent dialogue on 2021 elections.

The house of representatives held an emergency meeting today on Tuesday, calling on national and regional leaders to push the long-suffering Somali people to political turmoil, and to stem the tide, achieving effective governance based on consensus-building democracy.

The committee said they recognize that the federal level elections require an urgent consultation, which will be convened on 25 June 2020 by all head of state, including the President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, the Federal Government, the Federal Parliament and regional leaders and all political stakeholders and will be consulted on the 2020/2021 election, to find a suitable way and means.

The committee said the venue of the talks would be consulted on relevant issues.
