The Puntland administration opposed the decision of the weak Somali government

The Puntland regional administration has openly opposed the decision of the Ministry of Fisheries of the Federal Government of Somalia, which was that no one other than the government of Somalia can issue fishing licenses.

The Ministry of Fisheries of the Puntland regional government has issued a press release saying that Article 44 of the Constitution of the country states that the distribution of the country’s resources can be negotiated between the government of Somalia and the member states, through a constitutional process, and it is illegal, described by the Puntland Ministry of Fisheries for everything that is against Article 44.

The press release issued by the Puntland administration, which was very long and contained two pages, also said that if the constitutional provision that states that the distribution of the country’s resources can be negotiated between the federal government and the member states, it could lead to insecurity and political instability.

It was also pointed out in the text from Puntland that the text of the Ministry of Fisheries of the Federal Government is directly related to the agreements regional administration in Somalia.
