The Somali government has rejected a request by the Kenyan government to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to postpone the maritime dispute with Somalia.

Somali Information Minister Osman Abukar Dubbe recently told a news conference in Mogadishu that they would never accept a postponement of the maritime case.

The minister said Kenya had repeatedly asked for the maritime case to be postponed, accusing it of not wanting the case to be taken up and of not seeking justice. The maritime dispute between Somalia and Kenya was referred to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in August 2014, and has gone through various stages.
