The Somali government has dismissed reports that the two presidents will meet in Doha to discuss maritime issues. Somali Minister of Information Osman Abukar Dubbe said the Somali government had never discussed maritime issues with Kenya, adding that the case was pending with the International Court of Justice.

Minister Dubbe said what was being discussed now was how to repair the strained relations between the two countries, but there were rumors that Farmajo and Uhuru Kenyatta were meeting in Doha, Qatar to discuss the maritime issue which is fake news.

The information minister’s comments come after it was rumored that the Qatari government was pushing President Farmajo to bring the maritime issue back from the ICJ and the two would negotiate.
