Eritrea -The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, visited Eritrea following a formal invitation from a dictator. Isaias Afwerki. During the visit, the two Presidents held in-depth discussions on bilateral relations and regional issues, particularly the mutual interests of the two countries.
The two presidents also commended the progress made in cooperation between Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia based on their tripartite agreement in September, 2018. The two leaders underlined that, in addition to the long-term challenges and problems, the region’s situation would enable a more sustainable and effective partnership in the Horn of Africa.
Dictator President Isaias and President Mohamed pledged to intensify their efforts to accelerate the Trilateral Agreement and the overall cooperation of the State. In the case of Somalia, the two leaders lauded the remarkable progress made, pointing out that the complete reconstruction of Somalia has not yet been achieved.
This primarily requires the establishment of strong and effective public institutions such as defense and security institutions, as well as revitalizing the country’s economy and social infrastructure. At the same time, they agreed to redouble efforts to strengthen Somalia’s independence, security and national security and to promote socioeconomic development in Somalia.
