Turkey’s FM addressed the crisis that exists between Ethiopia and Somalia

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, speaking at the Turkey-Africa Conference in Djibouti, said that Turkey’s policy in Africa is comprehensive, and that the policy does not only include economic, development, social education, and health, but also including security cooperation and peace and stability efforts.

“We as Turkey are doing everything we can to end the conflicts in the regions with which we have relations,” Hakan Fidan told reporters at a joint press conference for the third review conference. Ministers of Cooperation between Turkey and Africa.

Fidan, who said that this process was introduced by Ankara to calm the tension between Ethiopia and Somalia, and to reach an agreement to end the conflict, said: “Since July we have had three meetings with the foreign ministers of the two countries Ethiopia and Somalia.

“Two of these were in Ankara and one in New York, which took place in July, August and September. We now have an advanced vision and structure, and we are striving to adapt to the needs,” he added.

Fidan said that this issue is historical and modern, stressing that the two officials are required to overcome the burdens of the past and take decisions based on the current circumstances.

Speaking about the fact that Turkey is trying to play an easy role in these issues, he added: “When we get down to the essence of the issue, there is a need to recognize the independence and territorial integrity of Somalia, on the other hand, Ethiopia It needs to have access to the sea to trade through peaceful means.”

Fidan said that there are many people living in Ethiopia who do not have direct access to the sea and highlighted that the trade is through the sea channels, which makes the sea access necessary.

He also pointed out that Ethiopia needs to unconditionally recognize Somalia its independence and land, and noted that efforts are underway to implement a plan based on these principles.
