The African Union Peace Commission has urged the member states of the African Union to contribute troops to the new AUSSOM peacekeeping mission in Somalia.

They also called for the strengthening of mediation efforts led by the African Union to resolve the tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia, emphasizing a peaceful solution based on respect for the sovereignty of both sides.

The meeting, which was chaired by Ambassador Mohamed Gad was evaluated on the other hand after the departure of the ATMIS mission, and the focus was on how to protect the existence of government institutions in Somalia.

The PSC expressed the urgent need for continued international support for Somalia. They called for the strengthening of Somalia’s security forces, stressing that it is essential to have a strong and self-sufficient national security system.
