The governor of Puntland State of Somalia Said Abdullahi Deni today met with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Somalia, Amb. James Swan.
The meeting was a Zoom video call and the two sides discussed the situation in the country and the 2021 elections. The two officials focused on resolving election-related concerns.
James Swan’s efforts in resolving Somalia elections in 2021, he held a similar meeting with Ahmed Madobe. The Jubaland and Puntland administrations, which still oppose the Somali government’s approach to elections, have not appointed their own election commissions.
According to President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo advisors told Somali Times that Jubaland governor Ahmed Madobe and Puntland governor Said Abdullahi Deni work of foreign agents like the Kenyan government and the United Arab Emirates and other foreign actors.
