The Minister of Finance Government of Somalia, Abdirahman Duale Beyle, held separate meetings with the officials of the army, which discussed sensitive issues. The meeting, which lasted several hours, was attended by Odowa Force Commander Yusuf Rage and Minister of Defense Hassan Hussein Haji. During the meeting, the issues of the army and how to increase their budget were discussed.
Minister Beyle issued a brief statement announcing that the Somali government will stand by the national army in defending the country. “We talked about the army budget and how to improve it. Our first priority is to support our brave forces who stand day and night to defend the country and the safety of the Somali people,” Beyle said.
Somalia in recent years struggled to rebuild and train its forces, with Turkey, Qatar and Eritrea playing a key role.
