Somali Health Minister warns of the Covid-19 spread

The Minister of Health of the Federal Government of Somalia, Dr. Fowsio Abikar Nur, has issued a stern warning against the risk of resurgence of Covid-19.

Somalia’s health minister said, according to figures released this month, the disease is still on the rise and there are more deaths. Dr. Fowsio also shared with the community important tips to avoid congested areas, to maintain good hygiene and for the community to use Afir during meetings, conferences and car parks.



The health ministry said 91 people had been diagnosed with Covid-19, while four had died. The highest number of cases is in the Benadir region, Mogadishu, followed by Puntland.

The Somali government says it has prepared new units to deal with the virus, and the government may have issued new directives to control the spread of Coronavirus.
