Why Deni travelled to Kenya and UAE?

The President of Puntland State of Somalia, Said Abdullahi Deni, has arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Deni’s trip to Dubai has sparked reports of his travels and meetings in the country. Deni is scheduled to meet in Dubai with top officials of DP World, the company that manages the port of Bosaso in Puntland, to discuss the port, which has been inactive for 4 years.




DP World has reportedly taken over the Port of Bosaso under an agreement signed three years ago (April 6, 2017), which was approved by the Puntland parliament. The agreement for the last 30 years, signed by his predecessor Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas and DP World CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Suleiman. According to the agreement, DP World would invest $ 336 million in the port, as part of a plan to expand the port by 450 meters at the time.

No work has been done on Bosaso port since the agreement went into effect, and its first phase was scheduled to end in mid-2019.

According to sources, official said Deni’s trip to UAE is to get financial support for general election in Somalia 2021 . Deni ambition to become Somalia President.
