Somalia future council warns against Hassan Sheikh’s extension of his term plan

The Somalia future council, which is united by the Jubaland and Puntland administrations, and opposition members who have left the Salvation Forum, issued a strong statement today at a meeting in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

The statement, which contained several points, discussed the general situation in the country, especially political issues and the controversy surrounding the 2026 electoral process.

First of all, the council announced a consultative conference that they said they would hold inside the country, which would discuss the future of the country, as they stated.

The Council also stated in the press release that it is clearly opposed to extending the term of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, issuing a strong warning.

They also rejected any changes to the constitution and the holding of non-agreement elections in the country.




“The Somalia future council declares its clear opposition to any action that leads to an extension of the term of the federal government institutions, any outcome of non-agreement elections, and any illegal changes that have been made or will be made to the 2012 negotiated constitution,” the Somalia future council statement said.

Meanwhile, the council sent a strong message to the Somali people, calling on them to stand up for the country’s security and to strengthen their unity and solidarity.




“The Somali Future Council calls on the Somali people to strengthen their unity and solidarity, and prepare to participate in saving the country’s future, starting with the holding of elections for the Federal institutions of Somalia,” it added.

This step comes amid the ongoing impasse over the country’s electoral process, particularly in terms of person and vote, so that the people can elect their leaders.
