The administration has made it clear that Jubaland will not act on orders from Villa Somalia, according to Jubaland Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Abdifatah Mohamed Mukhtar.
“Jubaland has made a responsible decision to withdraw from the Consultative Forum on October 7, 2024,” said Minister Abdifatah. “If President Hassan has forgotten, he should be reminded that Jubaland is not governed from Villa Somalia. We control our own destiny,” he added.
The Minister’s statement comes at a time when the Villa Somalia forum is seen as unfinished, rather than a forum for unifying political positions and strengthening cooperation between the central government and the states. However, Jubaland appears to be less confident in the intentions behind the forum.
The Puntland administration has nothing to do with the meeting of the corrupt Somalia President Hassan Sheikh. Hassan Sheikh only has 12 months of his term left and he hasn’t got unity of Somalis compared to former Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
