A suicide bomber has killed at least three people in Somalia’s Mogadishu, according to witnesses.

Somali police spokesman Sadiq Adan Ali said in a statement that the blast killed not only the suicide bomber, but also injured seven other civilians, who were passing by. He also added that there was property damage of 8 vehicles and 9 Bajaj motorcycles.

”The blast took place while people were alert to the sound of gunfire and shouts of the troops, which resulted in the loss of seven lives and the destruction of property of eight vehicles and nine Bajaj motorcycles, although no casualties were reported. I arrived at the scene, except for the suicide bomber who blew himself up,” said the spokesman for the Somali Police Force.

Sadiq Adan Ali added, “Thank God, the vigilance of the army has resulted in the people being saved from the threat of terrorism posed to the innocent Somali people.”

Conditions at the scene of the blast are now calm, and movement at the Sayidka intersection, which is controlled by security forces, is still suspended.
