The 21-year-old man was reportedly taken to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead to undergo tests ahead of the procedure, to which he then refused to give consent, prosecutors allege.

A couple and their daughter allegedly plotted to harvest a man’s kidney after keeping him as a slave in their London home.

Ike Ekweremadu, 60, and wife Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, are accused of transporting a 21-year-old homeless man from Nigeria to London.

Prosecutors allege that the couple planned to remove his kidney so that it could be given to their 25-year-old daughter Sonia, who has also now been charged.

They also allege the man was taken to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead to undergo tests ahead of the procedure, to which he then refused to give consent, reports My London.

The Ekweremadus, from Willesden Green in North West London, allegedly treated him as a slave before he escaped and went to Staines police station in Surrey.

The couple were arrested at Heathrow Airport on June 21 after arriving on a flight from Turkey.

Ike, a district senator and lawyer in Nigeria, and his wife and daughter Sonia, alongside Obinna Obeta, are each charged with conspiracy to arrange the travel of another person with a view to exploitation.

The details of the charge allege that between August 1 2021 and May 5 2022 they conspired together and with Isaac Ekweremadu and others unknown to arrange the travel of a named man with a view to his exploitation.

On Monday the case was brought before Judge Mark Lucraft KC for a hearing at the Old Bailey.

The defendants were not asked to enter pleas.

The judge brought their trial forward from May next year to January 31 with a further hearing set for December 16.
