Exclusive: Hassan Sheikh’s group ‘split’ into Ethiopia and Egypt

Somalia’s presidency has a conflict between officials close to President Hassan Sheikh over the crisis between Ethiopia and Egypt, according to Somali Times.

Ethiopia and Egypt are fighting over the Nile dam built by Addis-Ababa.

“One of the members who are very close to the president, the director of NISA, Somali spy chief Mahad Salad, has deep ties with Egypt as informant. He lived in Cairo from 2004 to 2012 where he was a student but the relationship continued since he returned to Somalia in 2012,” according to Somali Times reported.

During the official visit of Hassan Sheikh to Cairo in July, he was accompanied by Mahad Salad, where the president met with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdifatah Al-Sisi.

Former Al- Shabab terrorists Minister of Defense Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur and Minister of Justice and Constitution Hassan Macallin, who are very important in the government and very close to the president.

Mahad Salad, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur and Hassan Macallin supported reconciling with Egypt.

Unlike the trip to Egypt, which followed quickly after his re-election, President Hassan Sheikh took four months to visit Addis Ababa, and he finally went on the 28th of September.

On the trip to Ethiopia, Hassan Sheikh was accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ali Balad, who is considered to be the passive Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of State for the Presidency, Abshir Bukhari and the presidential advisor, Aweys Haji Yusuf.

The three men, who were made responsible for organizing the trip, prefer to maintain strong relations with Ethiopia, which is a neighbor of Somalia.
