Farmajo asks favour to Lafta-Gareen to re-elect him in elections

The President of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo last night received in his office the President of the South West State of Somalia, Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta-Gareen.

President Lafta-Gareen held talks with several private meetings, who spoke on condition of Somali Times. Farmajo asks favour to Lafta-Gareen to re-elect him in the 2021 elections.



According to our sources inside Villa Somalia, the president discussed with the South West leader the urgency of holding the upper house elections, in order to implement the recent timetable issued by the country’s still-disputed electoral commission.

The president of Galmudug, who is currently in Mogadishu, will join the meeting. Southwest plans are the first administration to launch an upper house election, to expedite the still-disputed election.
