Somalia’s outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo said I warmly congratulate Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on regaining a strong mandate from the people of Ethiopia. Somalia will continue to work with his government to further strengthen our bilateral relations to benefit our two people and wider region. ”I wish you great success, Mr. Prime Minister.”

Ethiopia’s Prime Minister committed a crime in Tigray. Thousands have been killed and two million have been displaced after Ethiopia’s government led a military campaign against the TPLF in November, last year.

Humanitarian officials have warned that a growing number of people might be starving to death in Tigray.

The opposition parties had complained about violence and intimidation in several regions, including in the state of Amhara, which borders Tigray. Tigray and the atrocities committed threaten to tear apart Ethiopia, as Tigray is home to most of the country’s estimated 7 million ethnic Tigrayans. The ethnic group accounts for about 6% of Ethiopia’s population.

The U.S. has sanctioned Ethiopia for the violence in Tigray.

The U.S. has imposed sanctions on both Ethiopia and Eritrea, whose troops are also believed to involve in a supporting role in Tigray. In May, the U.S. State Department pointed to many credible reports of armed forces in Tigray committing acts of violence against civilians, including gender-based violence and other human rights abuses and atrocities.

Abiy Ahmed, Isaias Afwerki and Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo are the new dictators. Farmajo and Abiy Ahmed believe in the same philosophy of long serving dictator Isaias Afwerki.
